There are three main forms of cotton used as inputs in the textile industry: uncarded and uncombed cotton (HS 520100); carded or combed cotton (HS520300); and cotton waste (HS 520299). Total consumption of cotton in the Vietnamese textile industry has increased constantly for several years. In terms of volume, total consumption increased by 30% in 2004, 12% in 2005, and 13% in 2006.
Out of the total consumption, uncarded and uncombed cotton accounted for around 94% by volume, carded or combed cotton accounted for about 1%, and cotton waste accounted for about 5%.
